Glowing Structures and “The Block”

The Block is an Australian reality television series broadcast on the Nine Network. The series follows four or five couples as they compete against each other to renovate houses/apartments and sell them at auction for the highest price. We were invited onto the show to help light one team’s kitchen and give them an edge over the other contestants. Featured on Channel Nine, Nine Network.

The design and installation for Julia and Sasha’s Challenge Kitchen was so successful, a perfect score of 40/40 was awarded by the judges on The Block!

Neale Whittaker: “That is safely the best island bench we have seen on the block.”

The illumination of the spectacular Caesarstone Concetto product was transformed and brought to life with the use of Linear Matrix’s adjustable white LED light panels carefully detailed to provide a perfect, even illumination in a confined, restricted space.

The Lighting was seamlessly incorporated within the voice activated home automation system, enabling full dimming capabilities and transition from pure white to warm white light to complement the simple voice commands programmed.

Glowing Structures were responsible for the design & detailing of the joinery lighting such that, an even, homogenous glow was achieved, enhancing the natural beauty of the Concetto Stone panel, expressing the natural characteristics and feature of the precious material.

Linear Matrix Australia provided the LED backlighting panels which are the cutting edge of technology. The slimline LED panel provides a consistent, even glow which was fixed to the joinery carcass. The dimmable drivers supplied by Linear Matrix provide the ability to have the lighting dim and change colour temperature, all with a simple voice command. An extremely detailed technical solution to provide the user with the simplest of control.

The stunning Caesarstone Concetto panel used was White Quartz 8141.
